A Holter monitor is a portable device used to continuously record the electrical activity of the heart over an extended period, typically 24 to 48 hours. It's a small, wearable device that is attached to the chest via electrodes. Throughout the monitoring period, it records the heart's activity, capturing any irregularities, abnormalities, or variations in heart rhythm during normal daily activities. This test helps diagnose arrhythmias or other heart-related issues that might not be detected during a brief ECG in a clinic.
